Jungle Village, 19th-century China. Several clans share the territory in uneasy tension — and the local blacksmith works for all of them, forging deadly weapons and saving every coin toward one goal: buying his lover Lady Silk's freedom and leaving for good.

01Gold, Greed & a Blacksmith's Dream

The blacksmith is an emancipated American slave who fled his past, found passage to China, and was trained by monks to channel his body's energy into superhuman strength. He is nobody's ally — until a gold shipment changes everything.

The Qing Emperor's governor tasks Gold Lion, leader of the Lion Clan, with protecting the gold as it passes through the village. His lieutenants Silver Lion and Bronze Lion have other ideas: using a staged clash as cover, they have the governor's own aide, Poison Dagger, assassinate Gold Lion. Silver seizes the clan.

Blood pays for blood. Gold pays for everything.

02The Violence Escalates

Word reaches Gold Lion's son, Zen-Yi — the X-Blade — who rides for the village to avenge his father. Silver hires the mercenary Brass Body, whose flesh turns to metal on impact; Brass destroys Zen-Yi's armour and nearly kills him. The blacksmith, watching from the crowd, pulls him from the rubble — penance, because he forged the weapon that killed Gold Lion.

The governor sends his own agent: Jack Knife, a morally flexible Englishman who takes a room at the Pink Blossom. When Jack traces Poison Dagger's mercury-tipped blades to the blacksmith, the Lions seize and torture him. He refuses to talk. Brass Body cuts off both his forearms.

03The Reckoning at the Pink Blossom

Madam Blossom hides the gold beneath her brothel, then hosts the Lions for a celebration — and at her signal her Black Widows poison the room. Zen-Yi, Jack and the blacksmith arrive, and the final battle ignites. Poison Dagger is crushed in the building's giant gears; Blossom and Bronze Lion kill each other; Zen-Yi buries Silver under the weight of the very gold he schemed for.

The blacksmith finds Silk — she dies in his arms — then turns to face Brass Body. The iron fists do what no ordinary blade could: they crack the metal skin, and one powered punch shatters him apart.

A post-credits scene sets up what comes next: Zen-Yi's pregnant fiancée is taken by a Bird Clan, and he goes looking for the blacksmith — the seed of the 2015 sequel.

The clans are broken, the village is safe, and the blacksmith destroys the sign above his shop — a quiet vow to protect rather than arm.
